This week has kicked off in style at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne with Derby Day yesterday. The weather had started out a little grim with wind and rain greeting racegoers, but that didn’t stop those in the finest fashions from looking nothing but perfect. It’s not that everyone had awkwardly bought an outfit in the same colour, Derby Day has a classic black-and-white dress code that people are encouraged to embrace.
The monochrome look was embraced through Stripes, Polka dots, hound’s-tooth, and greyscale florals, however, one of our favourites is my fellow Highpoint Shopping Centre Stylist, the gorgeous Nadia Bartel who as always nailed the Black and White trend.

Overall, the fashion, frocks, fascinators and crowds at Flemington Racecourse honoured the black and white tradition, however others added bursts of colour to brighten up their black and white attire. The sea of black and white celebrities included Jodi Anasta, Bachelor Blake Garvey, Rachael Finch, Laura Dundovic and many others. Derby Day 2014, was a fashion event on the calendar not to be missed by anyone.
